Horticulture in Rajasthan

Back to HomeContentsFeedback

The state of Rajasthan, known for its rich cultural heritage, has now been making waves in export of fresh fruits and vegetables too. A known desert in the western part of India has worked hard to turn its soil into green orchards and nutritious vegetables growing fields.

The state of Rajasthan has geographical advantages in export of exotic fruits and vegetables as it has access to New Delhi and Mumbai international airports well connected with rail, road and air transportation. Realizing the in-built horticultural strength of the state, inspite of existence of poor infrastructure for pre and post harvest management of fruits and vegetables, Department has launched the scheme to export fruits & vegetables in international markets as a maiden attempt

The worldwide demand for exotic fruits and vegetables provide enough encouragement to state organization and entrepreneurs to initiate steps to optimally tap the natural resources of the state. The lands available in the form of dry lands and wastelands, once brought into horticultural cultivation, will enable the state to play a significant role in horticultural exports.
